Typical "sandwich" driver for the Luxeon LED. The emitter at the top rests on the sandwich which consists of two PCB layers which sandwich the electronic components used to regulate the current delivered to the LED. The green layer is thermally conductive epoxy, which not only helps conduct heat away from the components, but also provides some protection from shock.
